About Michael Carroll

Michael Carroll is a painter who explores the world with pigment, and its inheriting contradictions.

Coming from a mixed farming background, Michael moved to Sydney to formally pursue his artistic career at The National Art School in 1969. Informally, he marked that time, the year of the moon landing, with a small series of ‘outer space’ studies. Subsequently, his study was carried out at Alice Springs (NT), Meadowbank (Sydney), Eltham (Vic) and Florence (Italy).

Giving many people pleasure and stimulation in viewing his work would be his main achievement: he can claim few formal recognitions, but a loyal and appreciate public following. A significant public sculpture which he completed in 1988 at Nyngan, NSW, reflects the Australian Sheep Industry.

Travel constitutes the overall stimulations for his artistic outlook. Currently the America’s, Europe, Russia, The Eastern rim of Asia and some of Africa have all been part of his experience. His next major show is at the Orange Regional Gallery, Orange, NSW, from June 1st to July 8th 2007.
